Keysight Technologies N5242B

The Keysight N5242B PNA-X is a four-port microwave vector network analyser covering 900 Hz/10 MHz to 26.5 GHz. It is built for active device characterisation, where an ordinary S-parameter analyser runs out of capability.

Options fitted to this unit: 425 four-port configurable test set with second source, attenuators, combiner, mechanical switches, bias tees and low frequency extension; 029 noise receiver to 26.5 GHz; 021 and 022 pulse modulators on the internal first and second sources; and 020 additional IF inputs.

That configuration matters. The second source and combiner allow two-tone intermodulation measurement without external signal generators. The noise receiver supports noise figure measurement on the same connection as the S-parameter sweep. The pulse modulators support pulsed RF characterisation of amplifiers that cannot be driven continuous wave.

Typical applications: amplifier, mixer and frequency converter characterisation, linear and nonlinear measurement, noise figure, gain compression, and pulsed device test.

Supplied with: USB keyboard and mouse, power cord, front and rear panel covers, 8 in/lb 20 mm open end torque wrench, SMA terminations and front and rear panel jumper cables fitted, cable guards, USB documentation, and an accessory bag.

Calibrate with the N4691D ECal module, or add the U9391C comb generator for phase reference calibration.
